School Profile
MISSION STATEMENT
The mission at Delmarva Christian High School is to train students spiritually, academically, and physically to know and accomplish God’s will for their lives.
VISION STATEMENT
The curriculum at DCHS is designed to support the mission of the school, which is to train students to walk with God, walk with their fellow believers, and walk in, but not of, this world. The curricular goal is to develop and extend the knowledge (grammar) phase of a student’s education with understanding (logic) and wisdom (rhetoric). Additionally, the curriculum provides an opportunity for students to apply their knowledge and skills in practical and productive ways to further God’s kingdom.
THE SCHOOL
DCHS is a non-denominational, regional Christian high school serving students in grades 9 through 12. In its eighth year, enrollment has grown to over 180 students. The 44-acre campus includes the 126,000 square foot high school building, a 4,000 square foot technology building, practice, and playing fields. The 14,000 square foot Draper Family Foundation Gymnasium holds 650 spectators and houses the only indoor pole vault pit in downstate Delaware.
ACADEMICS
DCHS teachers have developed an academic curriculum that is unique to the school. The classically-oriented curriculum is taught at the college preparatory level offering Advanced Placement courses in Chemistry, Calculus, U.S. History, and English Literature & Composition. Academic support is provided through after-school academic coaching and special needs support.
All students are tested annually with the Terra Nova Achievement Test, Third Edition. Additionally, by the junior year students take the PSAT and before graduating take the SAT. Students are also encouraged to take the ACT.
ACADEMIC HIGHLIGHTS
DCHS students have several unique educational opportunities as they pursue God’s plan for their lives:
- J-Term – The DCHS J-Term enables students to pursue their passions. These activities and mission ministries take place over a 2-3 week period of intensive Christ-based study and work between the fall and spring trimesters.
- Science Olympiad – DCHS won the Sussex County Trophy for the 4th consecutive year and the Spirit Award for the 2nd consecutive year in 2011.
- iLearn – DCHS has partnered with several universities to offer online and on-campus dual enrollment college courses for high school Juniors and Seniors.
- iPad 1:1 – All DCHS students receive an iPad for use at school and at home. DCHS is the first and only school in the State to offer a one-to-one program.
- SAT Scores – DCHS students have the highest SAT scores in Sussex County, averaging 503 in math, 525 in critical reading, and 509 in writing with an average total score of 1537.

BLOCK SCHEDULE
DCHS operates in a block schedule format. Students are enrolled in four courses during the seventeen-week fall tri-mester ending right before the Christmas holiday. Students return for a two- to three-week J-Term course; a course that provides opportunities for intensive study of a particular subject or ministry area. The J-Term is followed by the spring tri-mester in which students enroll in four more classes of study that conclude in June. The tri-mester system enables a deep study of each subject in a manageable format and provides students the opportunity to tailor their schedules to meet their individual needs.
ATHLETICS
